3d World Forum of Local Economic Development

Torino, Italy

The event is part of a process that began in October 2011 in Seville, Spain, with the organisation of the First World Forum of Local Economic Development and followed by the Second World Forum of Local Economic Development in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil.

The Third Forum will be held in Turin, Italy, in October 2015, which is the target year for the Millennium Development Goals, and at the same time, the starting year of the Post-2015 Development Agenda whose objectives will be adopted at the United Nations Summit on Sustainable Development in New York in September.

The Third LED Forum 2015, following this Summit, offers the opportunity to explore experiences and practices capable of enhancing the importance of LED as a means to realise the development agenda at a local level.

The conference is held in conjunction with the final phase of “Expo Milano 2015 – Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” and, together with the key themes of the Universal Exhibition, focusing on the strategic role of local policies to improve quality and lifestyles.

The expected results are:

  • To promote global dialogue on LED through participation, the sharing of information and exchange among stakeholders coming from all countries in the world.
  • To encourage the system making of experiences recognised as good practices
  • To raise awareness in governments to adopt policies that can realise the future Post-2015 Agenda at a local level
