Denison Jayasooria

Prof Datuk Dr Denison Jayasooria is the Principal Research Fellow at the Institute of Ethnic Studies. He holds a PhD in sociology from Oxford Brooks University, United Kingdom. In March 2018 he was confirmed Practice Professor in Public Advocacy by the National University of Malaysia (UKM). He is the Co chair of the Malaysia CSO SDG Alliance. He is a member of the National SDG Steering Committee established by the EPU now the Ministry of Economic Affairs since 2016. In Oct 2017 the United Nations Office in Malaysia awarded the UN Award for special contributions for the promotions of SDGs. He was appointed by the Malaysian Foreign Minister as member of the Malaysian Consultative Council on Foreign Policy on since October, 2018. He is also chair of the Asian Solidarity Economy Council and Board member of the Intercontinental Network for Social Solidarity Economy (RIPESS).
