Summary :

Researchers, advocates and practitioners of development work are also

looking for new ways to advance sustainable development, especially in the light of the failure of Rio+20 to reach a new consensus on our planet’s conservation. The “Symposium on Social & Solidarity Economy as an Alternative Development Policy and Strategy” addresses this important concern.

The main speaker of the symposium is Datuk Dr. Denison Jayasooria, former

commissioner of the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia and concurrently the

ASEC Continental Asia Vice-Chairand Board Member of the RIPESS global network

(Intercontinental Network for the Promotion of Social and Solidarity Economy). He presents his views on SSE, and how it could become part of the global sustainable development agenda and be recognized as a viable option.
