TECE14 Towards a European Circular Economy

Towards a European Circular Economy is a three-day environmental conference in Rome which will be held from the 21st to the 23rd of May, featuring many relevant international experts of sustainable waste management, representants of local authorities and international institutions.

The first part of the Conference will be at Palazzo Valentini Venue and will host the Italian EWWR Awards Ceremony, in which the best European Week for Waste Reduction italian actions will be rewarded by the Italian Steering Committee representants. The Ceremony is introduced by a lectio magistralis from Gunter Pauli.

The following days the venue will be at Eataly Rome where there will be hosted many relevant events.

Starting form the 22nd of May, in the morning there will be a focus on waste prevention and sustainable management in Waste prevention and sustainable management in Europe: good practices in comparison, featuring two Round Tables dealing with:
 Best practices on sustainable waste management through EU-funded projects;
 How networking and capitalising positive experience: debate on European programs on waste topic 2014-2020.

In the afternoon there will be a focus on the European Week for Waste Reduction and on environmental communication campaigns, with the following meetings:
 The European Week for Waste Reduction: a key initiative for sustainable resource and waste management;
 An overview on succesful communication campaigns;
 Round Table – Raising citizens’ awareness.

In the evening, starting at 18, there will be the EWWR European Awards Ceremony and the Gala Dinner for the 20th anniversary of ACR+.

On the 23rd the focus on Zero waste and circular economy: revolution or business as usual will host two sessions:
 Session 1. Zero waste – What does it mean? Zero waste in landfill, zero waste incinerated or zero waste at source?
 Session 2. Circular Economy – What does it mean? A new economic model, boosting growth or the multi-R approach?

The conferences at Eataly’s venue will be enriched with an Environmental Expo featuring best practices and actors on environmental and waste issues.
